Vintage Pens
The pens in this category typically start out as:
- Old and in need of repair, but in decent shape overall
- Classic models that are still desirable to modern penthusiasts
- Models that are likely to provide an enjoyable writing experience
Before sale, they undergo a restoration process focused on bringing back their writing utility, without erasing their history:
- Cleaning as thoroughly as possible without risking additional damage
- Replacement of wear items such as ink sacs, diaphragms and other seals
- Repairs to other parts of the pen if needed to restore function
- Testing over a week or two to ensure the writing experience is satisfactory
- Minor nib adjustments if needed
- Additional cleaning after testing
- A bit of a shine and polish
I do not attempt to erase issues that are purely cosmetic; the history of an old pen is part of its appeal to me, and I want to honor that.
